About The Event
Abhinaya / Expression is a 90-minute immersive Kathak workshop led by Patrali Chakrabarty, a disciple of Guru Pandit Rajendra Gangani (Jaipur Gharana).
This session explores the seamless blend of laya (rhythm) and angik abhinaya (expressive movement), revealing how Kathak transforms rhythmic compositions into vivid visual storytelling.
Rooted in the concept of Layangik Nritya, the workshop focuses on traditional compositions such as Kavitt and Parmelu, where rhythmic syllables are embodied as narrative and imagery—bridging nritta (pure dance) and nritya (expressive storytelling).
